Participants will understand how to create or transition to an online peer coaching program to expand their ability to support their students' success journey.
Students understand the challenges other students face and are great resources to help them become successful in college. This online Peer Coaching program provides a unique service to assist students in their journey to success by providing opportunities to develop academic strategies, set goals, and manage time and occasions to discuss behaviors and habits that may hinder their success. This webinar outlines how to create and sustain an online Peer Coaching program, from recruitment and training to monitoring and reporting.
The University of Central Arkansas Success Coaching Program began in the spring of 2015 as a Pilot Program. With positive results from that semester, the program was fully operational by the fall of that year. As a result of COVID-19, the program has now shifted to a fully online resource. Students who are on Academic Alert or Probation are required to meet with Peer Coaches. However, PCs are available for all students, especially first-time freshmen. We also offer to coach specialized populations such as Honors, Student-Athletes, and transfer students. Each year approximately 500 students meet with a peer coach at least once.
Data has proven that students who meet with PCs at least once, before the mid-point of the semester-end with higher semester GPAs than those who do not meet with a peer coach. We have also found that students marked "at-risk" in two or more courses during our Progress Reporting period are more likely to end the semester on Academic Alert or Probation. Lastly, students who attend two or more sessions and actively work on their goals return to good academic standing in fewer semesters than those who do not meet with a peer coach.

Nadia Eslinger serves the students of the University of Central Arkansas as the Assistant Director of Student Success. She is a two time graduate of the University of Central Arkansas, Bachelors of Art in History with a Minor in African American Studies (2005), and a Masters of Science in Education in College Student Personnel Services and Administration (2008). Her why is to do all she can, while she can so that her living is not in vain. Nadia believes that every student can succeed if they apply themselves in the classroom, and take advantage of opportunities outside of the classroom. In her role as the Assistant Director of Student Success, Nadia oversees UCA’s Success Coaching Program, Early Alert Progress Reporting, First Generation Scholar Society, and co-manages the Academic Recovery Program. She also serves as the president-elect for Staff Senate and is on several other university committees.
Nadia’s Higher Education career spans over 15 years. During that time she has worked at the University of Georgia in Housing and Residence Life, Arkansas State University also in Housing and Residence Life, and at the University of Central Arkansas where she spent several years as an Academic Advisor before her current role. She is an adjunct instructor at UCA teaching a freshman transition course each fall. All of this has been mostly for fun as her “real” job is a wife and mother. Nadia and her husband Lamar have two children Aidan (15) and Ariah (10) who keep them very busy.

What is a live webinar?
A live webinar is an interactive online training. Participants can communicate with the presenter(s) during the event via a live chat feature.
What is an on-demand webinar and how do I get access?
An on-demand training is a previously recorded webinar available online which can be accessed anytime, anywhere. You can register for on-demand trainings at any time. You will receive the recording the week following the live event. The recording is a campus access license and is available for one year from the purchase date.
How long are the webinars?
Webinars range from 60-90 minutes. Please check each training for the exact timeframe.
How do I register?
You can register online by adding the product to your shopping cart. When do I register?
You can register at any time, even the morning of the live event. If the live event has occurred, you can purchase the on-demand training (recording) of the session. You can register for on-demand trainings at any time.
What is the process for attending a live event?
The process is as follows:
- You will receive the login information within 5 minutes of registering for the webinar.
- The presentation materials will be available before the live event. Please check the link in the login information email.
- On the day of the live event, participants can log in 30 minutes prior to the start time. Once logged in, participants can see the PowerPoint slides, ask questions, and make comments via the chat feature.
- We email participants a link to the recording the Monday following the live event.
Is there a recording available? And how long is the recording good for?
Approximately one week after the conclusion of the live webinar, participants will receive a link to the recording which can be forwarded to all faculty and staff for viewing anytime, anywhere. The recording is a campus access license and is available for one year from the date of the live event.
What are the technical requirements?
Innovative Educators uses Zoom as its web conferencing provider. If you have not previously attended a Zoom event, please Join a Test Meeting to make sure your computer is compatible with Zoom. Be sure to complete this test prior to the live event.

Which workshops are your top rated?
We take quality seriously, and so all of our workshops are top notch in terms of content and look. However, if we know how you plan to use StudentLingo (FYE, Retention, Probation, TRIO, etc.), we can make workshop recommendations.
Funding is a little tight, how many workshops can I get for $XX?
You can buy the entire StudentLingo package (50 workshops) or we offer several a la carte options. Unlike a lot of other software companies, we don’t charge per user, so we can work with any budget. We recommend talking to other departments on campus to increase your purchasing power and to share the cost. Also, we do have a pay model whereby students pay directly. Is there an admin view?
This is a feature of our platform, but comes at an additional cost. With the admin view, you get access to more advanced reporting, and you have it in real time. With the standard membership, you get monthly reports.
