Forrest Helvie, Ph.D. has over five years of experience as a department chair and a developmental English coordinator at Norwalk Community College, I am currently serving as the Interim Director of Professional Development at Connecticut Community Colleges. In this role, I lead and advocate for the professional growth of faculty, staff, and administrators across twelve campuses, while promoting equity and inclusive excellence in the community college system through creating and implementing nationally recognized and award-winning professional development programs.
I hold a Ph.D. in English Literature and Criticism from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where I received the Doctoral Scholarly Excellence Award, and a Graduate Certificate in Higher Education Leadership and Administration from UMass Amherst. I am also an author and a comics scholar, having published multiple articles and reviews for various outlets, including Marvel.com, Newsarama, and Sequart. As a US Army combat veteran, a husband, and a father of children with special needs, I bring a unique perspective on leadership and life to my work. I am passionate about education, literature, and comics, and I strive to inspire and empower others to pursue their goals and dreams.
