Dr. Shannon Cooper

Dr. Cooper is a licensed psychologist with over 20 years of clinical experience in California. She primarily practices in the Sacramento area and maintains a practice in the Bay Area. She specializes in forensic and psychological evaluations (e.g., substance abuse, child custody, and fitness for duty). She has expertise in treating a range of individuals suffering from conditions such as mood and anxiety disorders, substance use, and posttraumatic stress disorder.

Additionally, she has served as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the California Board of Psychology's licensing exam and for the Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) program, helping to shape professional standards and training in the state.
Dr. Cooper has over 25 years of experience in higher education. She previously worked as a tenured professor in the CSU system and has served in leadership roles that include Dean of Counseling and Vice President of Student Affairs in the California community college system.

Dr. Cooper currently serves as a CSU Lecturer and is an Associate Professor at a private university in the Sacramento area, where she provides clinical supervision to master’s and doctoral-level psychology students. She is also a presenter and trainer delivering workshops to faculty and classified professionals on critical topics such as trauma-informed care, chronic stress, managing escalating student behavior, and staff mental health and wellness.
