Ben Montecillo, MPA, FAAC® serves as the Executive Director for Scholarships & Financial Aid at the University of Houston. He has over 15 years of progressively responsible roles as a Financial Aid Administrator at multiple large 4-year public institutions and a grad/professional institution. Prior to joining the UH Team in May 2024, Ben worked as the Associate Managing Director at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center from December 2019 until May 2024. Ben began his financial aid career at his alma mater, Texas Tech University. He oversaw several areas of the office including NCAA Compliance, Call Center, Verification, Strategic Initiatives. During Ben’s time in the financial aid community, he has presented at numerous conferences at the state, regional and national levels. He has also been an active contributor in associations by serving on TASFAA, SWASFAA and NASFAA board of directors and association committees. In 2021, Ben was elected to serve as the Southwest Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (SWASFAA)’s 2023 President and served on the NASFAA Board of Directors during the 2023-2024 year. This follows his service as the Texas Delegate At-Large for SWASFAA in 2019 & 2020. Ben earned his bachelor’s degree in Political Science and his master’s degree in Public Administration at Texas Tech University. He is also a certified Financial Aid Administrator (FAAC®) along with several NASFAA Credentials.
