April Cano-Garcia

April Cano-Garcia (she/her/ella pronouns) is a proud first-generation student and lifelong learner. April is passionate about bridging education gaps for students who have been historically excluded from higher education. April believes in the power of advocacy and mentorship, knowing that she would not be where she is today without the support of many people who have helped her every step of the way. In previous roles, April has worked in a variety of functional areas ranging from TRIO programs, residence life, student activities and academic advising. She is an alum of Colorado State University with her B.S. in Psychology and B.S. in Human Development & Family Studies. April is also a graduate from the University of Connecticut, where she earned her M.A. in Higher Education & Student Affairs.

April currently serves as the Director for Student Support Services Classic & STEM at Colorado State University.

In her spare time, you can find April spending time in the beautiful Colorado outdoors, reading a book, indoor rock climbing or at an Orangetheory workout. April is an avid plant lover and has a collection of over 50 houseplants. April loves to create new memories with her spouse and pets Willow, Oak and Papas.
