How to support TRIO student success with high-impact virtual programming
CASE STUDY
Simpson College utilizes Go2Orientation and StudentLingo workshops to support their TRIO students as they enter college. TRIO students are introduced to orientation and the online student success workshops through the bridge program and can utilize these resources throughout their journey at Simpson College.
All incoming SSS students are required to complete the online orientation and three StudentLingo workshops. StudentLingo is promoted through emails, texts, and advising meetings. These resources allow Simpson TRIO staff to spend more time supporting students one-on-one and less time planning and implementing programs.
The StudentLingo experience lays the foundation for TRIO student success at Simpson College and meets the core requirements of a TRIO program: Academic Enrichment, Financial Literacy, Career Exploration/Preparation, College Preparation, Intrusive Advising & Support, and Cultural Enrichment.
The staff at IE made it incredibly easy to create an orientation by providing templates and an outline that could be customized to meet our needs. Virtually everything was customizable: colors, images, text, formatting, etc. In addition, IE has a high-quality video library that could be used to enhance the TRIO Orientation; in addition, we were able to utilize our videos.
