Using Title III funds to provide online support services
CASE STUDY
Santa Fe College was looking for a way to use their Title III funds for online support services that would improve student success. In StudentLingo, Santa Fe College found the opportunity to meet students where they are and to develop support resources for all parts of their students’ academic journey. Santa Fe College utilizes StudentLingo in a variety of unique ways: as a component of the college’s “Digital Learning Plan,” as a resource within student adjudication, and as an embedded component in academic courses.
Integrated within Canvas, students can earn badges as they complete StudentLingo workshops and finish “College Knowledge” modules. While first-time-in-college students are the targeted audience for StudentLingo, faculty buy-in for these success resources has been so great that StudentLingo has become integral to the Santa Fe College student experience. In addition, Santa Fe College is able to utilize single sign-on and data integration to capture critical information about student usage.
The StudentLingo experience is an integral component of Santa Fe College’s success plan for all students.
The student feedback was so overwhelmingly positive that it was really easy to see the value in this very quickly.
