How one school used StudentLingo as an FYE textbook replacement to promote access & equity
CASE STUDY
Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) was determined to create equitable access by eliminating course costs for their FYE courses. They needed to get success materials into the hands of their diverse student body and were seeking a highly flexible resource. It was critical that they find a way to provide students with an engaging, interactive, no-cost solution, and StudentLingo was their answer.
In StudentLingo, PVCC found engaging student success workshops on a variety of critical topics. PVCC is able to leverage these online resources in FYE courses where they serve as homework assignments reinforcing concepts like goal setting and time management. Advisors and academic coaches also use StudentLingo in their work with students needing support or facing academic challenges. In addition, they are able to maximize their reach by using Title IX & Financial Literacy workshops to meet state requirements.
We use SL as our textbook for our FYE course, and when I look at the number of students that are using StudentLingo, the cost makes it very affordable!
