Theresa Haug-Belvin

Angus Macfarlane is the current Program Manager for the Utah Valley University Mentors. Prior to coming to UVU he was the graduate assistant for the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership at Southern Utah University. While there, he completed his undergraduate degree in Psychology and earned an MPA. Before Southern Utah University, he got his start in mentoring at Snow College, working in the Health and Wellness Center as a mentor assigned to help students develop social support on campus and increase emotional wellbeing.

Dr. Theresa Haug-Belvin is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Student Leadership & Success Studies at Utah Valley University (UVU). She will assume the role of Academic Director of the UVU Mentor Program in spring 2020. Prior to her career at UVU, she served as an Instructor and Course Coordinator for the First-Year Seminar at Southeast Missouri State University from 2012-2019. From 2001-2012, she oversaw the orientation programs and was promoted to the Director of Student Transitions at Southeast in 2010, where she continued her orientation responsibilities and assumed leadership of the Office of Career Services. She was the lead editor for the first three editions of First-Year Seminar: Connecting to Southeast, the custom textbook used by all first-year students at Southeast. Her research focuses on faculty who teach first-year seminars, retention, and the effectiveness of peer mentors in the classroom.
