Steve Piscitelli

Full Bio

A retired professor (33-year teaching career), Steve Piscitelli has written thirteen books. Eight of those were student success textbooks. His latest books include Teaching, Learning and Resilience: No Need to be an Island (2017), Community as a Safe Place to Land (2019), and Roxie Looks for Purpose Beyond the Biscuit (2020 which was written by his dog, Roxie, but Steve did the typing). He is currently working on his first novel, a story of struggles to find peace, purpose, and personal power on an urban college campus.

Since Steve left the classroom he has immersed himself in community issues of growth and resilience. For instance, he and Roxie are a pet therapy team. Prior to the COVID-19 lockdown, their weekly visits brought comfort to people at the local hospital, hospice, schools, and international airport. He is a board member with Beaches Watch a non-partisan nonprofit civic organization whose mission is to promote educated and productive citizen involvement in local and state government decisions that affect the future of northeast Florida beach communities.
