For nearly two decades, Sarah Hagerman has worked in academic libraries while also being a regular yoga and meditation practitioner. The intersection of these two passions – education and mindfulness – drive her commitment to fostering a culture of compassion for learners in Higher Ed. Her librarianship centers on empathetic approaches to supporting student success and creative critical information literacy instruction. She was one of the founders of a drop-in meditation program at University of Colorado Boulder Libraries and is one of the managing librarians on the Mindfulness Room at Norlin Library. As part of the teaching and learning team at CUB Libraries, she and her colleagues undertook an extensive contemplative pedagogy learning project and have been successfully implementing these strategies in the classroom.
