Dr. Paz Maya Olivérez is Interim Vice President of Student Affairs at California State University, Stanislaus and a 2018 recipient of the Outstanding First-Year Student Advocate Award from the National Center for the First-Year Experience & Students in Transition. During her last 10 years as a Student Affairs Administrator, Dr. Oliverez has developed a vision for student success that goes far beyond degree completion. She is a strong believer in the roles that advising, peer mentoring, student engagement, leadership & career development play in adding value to the degree and ensuring that students enter graduate school or the workforce with a competitive edge. Dr. Oliverez has also enjoyed serving as an instructor in multiple Masters in Higher Education Counseling programs where she’s had the honor and pleasure of sharing knowledge & expertise from her work in the field while mentoring future student affairs professionals. She holds a Ph.D. in Education from the University of Southern California, an M.S. in Counseling from California State University, Long Beach, and a B.A. in Sociology from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
