Julie Schultz is a Senior Assistant Director in University Orientation and First Year Experience at The Ohio State University. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and a Master’s degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs from The Ohio State University. In her role, she is charged with recruiting, hiring, evaluating, motivating, retaining, and coaching a team of professional staff, graduate assistants, and undergraduate students. In addition, her responsibilities include coordinating campus efforts around summer transition programs for entering students; providing leadership and strategic planning for donor communications, engagement and stewardship; and for designing the unit’s assessment strategies to demonstrate how office programs contribute to desired learning outcomes.
Julie’s specialties include building strong organizational cultures through intentional staff training and one on one leadership development and coaching. She presents frequently to higher education partners through workshops, courses, and national conferences as well as to local educational, business, and civic organizations. Frequent presentation topics include strengths based leadership, strategic planning, onboarding and training, and supervision through coaching. In 2013, she co-instructed an online course through the National Resource Center on the First Year Experience and Students in Transition about “Strategic Planning for your First Year Experience Program”.
