Dr. Amy Murphy, serves as an Assistant Professor of Student Development and Higher Education Leadership at Angelo State University. She is formerly the Dean of Students and Managing Director of the Center for Campus Life at Texas Tech University. Her experiences include oversight of prevention and response activities for gender-based violence and discrimination as the Deputy Title IX Coordinator for Students as well as experience as an investigator for discriminatory harassment complaints involving students, faculty, and staff. She was central in the review and revision of University and System policies related to Title IX, the development and expansion of comprehensive prevention programs, and the coordination of campus stakeholders to benefit Title IX efforts at the University. Dr. Murphy also served as chairperson for the Behavioral Intervention Team, and she spent more than 15 years involved in co-curricular and extracurricular student involvement and leadership activities, providing oversight and advisement to a system of more than 450 registered student organizations, including 50 inter/national fraternities and sororities. Dr. Murphy writes and presents on the requirements of the Violence Against Women Act and the strategic prevention of sexual violence, guidance for student affairs administrators on Title IX compliance, the management of at-risk student processes, and cultural change in fraternities and sororities including innovations in addressing organization misconduct.
