Brian Mistler

Dr. Brian Mistler, is developer and trainer for I CAN HELP the Free Mental Health Literacy and Suicide Prevention Program available at as well as a higher education administrator and healthcare executive with diverse experience at public and private institutions of-all-sizes in Florida, New York, Virginia, and most recently for the California State University system including medical center chief administrator, counseling center director, associate dean of students, and Title IX legal compliance officer, and from 2012-2019 in roles overseeing medical, counseling, health education and basic-needs related services with a variety of integrated and non-integrated, AAAHC and Joint Commission, IACS and non-IACS programs.

Dr Mistler is currently C.O.O. of ResolutionCare, a private benefit corporation leveraging telemedicine to provide palliative care for rural patients with serious illness. Dr. Mistler has spent his career teaching at both universities and hospitals, and as PI or CO-PI for a number of significant state and federal grants.

A licensed psychologist and first-generation college student, Dr. Mistler has published widely on legal, physical-/mental-health, and social justice issues in top journals, is annually the health expert faculty member for the NASPA Higher Ed. Law Certificate Program led by Peter Lake, served as co-leader of the Association for University and College Counseling Center Directors (AUCCCD) data-benchmarking survey, and on the American College Health Association’s (ACHA)’s Connected College Health Network (CCHN) project. Other national advisory and editorial boards include Center for Collegiate Mental Health, Association for the Advancement of Gestalt Therapy (AAGT), NASPA Region VI, Journal of Student Affairs Research and Practice, and Journal of College and University Student Housing.

Brian received his undergraduate degrees (including Computer Science) from Stetson University, his M.A. (Conflict Resolution) from The University of Bradford as a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar to the U.K., P.G-Cert (Financial Management) from Cornell University, and his Ph.D. (Counseling Psychology) from the University of Florida, specializing in data science and organizational change management.
