Alexandra Duran

Alexandra Duran is the dean of workforce and economic development at San Jose Evergreen Community College District and the founder of the Silicon Valley Career Pathways, Northern California’s largest Career Pathways consortium serving over 14,000 students.

Alexandra’s background as an immigrant Latina from an economically disadvantaged family has provided a unique lens to relate and serve the needs of diverse student populations. She has become a recognized leader in creating, transforming and implementing educational programs based on equitable access and opportunities. Among these is the Map Your Future Program, which is dedicated to fostering career awareness in students at all educational levels and providing suitable support to successfully navigate the chosen career path. Through Alexandra’s revolutionary approach, MYF has expanded from serving students at one community college to an entire region, including nine community colleges, ten K-12 districts, three California State Universities and three workforce investment boards, as well as educationally disengaged populations.

Alexandra was named Woman of Influence by the Silicon Valley Business Journal in 2018, she was selected Administrator of the Year at Evergreen Valley College in 2015 and received the John & Suanne Roueche Excellence Administrator Award, League for Innovation in 2014. In 2012, the Metropolitan Education District Board recognized her with the Raising the Bar on Education Award.

Alexandra earned a Bachelor’s in Communications from Chico State University, a Masters in Business Management from National University and presently is a Doctoral Candidate in Organizational Leadership from Abilene Christian University.
