      Student Testimonials:

“Thank you so much for your help! I was able to get a 91% on my test. I am so excited! I applied all the [test anxiety workshop] techniques, especially telling myself that I was prepared for the test. I feel so much better, I will apply this to every test or project coming up. It feels so good to be able to remember everything I study.”

“The time management videos and advice work just great for me. I used the weekly schedule form that you gave in the video, and it's amazing how you can manage your time.”

Overall all the strategies discussed in the [what is takes to be a successful student] workshop are very helpful, but the most helpful and beneficial strategy is cognitive restructuring, turning something into a positive by self-reflection.”

      Institutional Feedback:

Our office and campus has a centralized advising model and our office has a student to advisor ratio of 1000 to 1. With that ratio we have struggled to deliver the services we would like. As with many campuses, having students attend student success workshops was quite a challenge, with no students attending being more of the norm. Over 35% of our students are first generation and would truly benefit from the student success workshops. We saw online on-demand videos as an opportunity to continue the workshops yet mix up the delivery method. By freeing up the time slots and advisors, we could offer workshops that were highly attended like graduation checks and degree progress checks. StudentLingo's platform and availability of Spanish language videos along with their customer service were key in our selection.

This year, faculty in our new three-credit hour First-Year Seminar, "Journeys to Success," assigned specific StudentLingo videos as homework to coordinate with different sections in the course. Student usage rates were high, and feedback from students and faculty was really positive.

StudentLingo has provided our institution the means to put top-notch success resources at our students’ fingertips. StudentLingo has become a resource that is utilized across our institution: in advising conversations, retention programs, and classroom settings. In particular, our faculty and advisers appreciate and value the Action Plans that provide students the opportunity to reflect and apply what they have learned.
