Colorado Mountain College (CMC), serving over 3,000 dual enrollment students across 11 campuses and 40 school districts, faced significant challenges in streamlining its onboarding process. With a vast geographic service area spanning 12,000 square miles, ensuring consistent, high-quality orientation for all students—regardless of location—was a persistent hurdle. Each campus had unique course offerings and orientation formats, making it difficult to provide a unified experience for dual enrollment learners. Additionally, students often struggled with understanding the differences between high school and college expectations, such as registration procedures, academic policies, and available resources. Without a standardized system, CMC found that students were missing critical information necessary for their success.
To address these challenges, CMC implemented Go2Orientation, an online orientation platform designed to provide a cohesive and accessible onboarding experience for dual enrollment students. The institution created a dedicated concurrent enrollment module that tailored content to the specific needs of high school students taking college courses. The new orientation includes essential information on college expectations, course registration, academic support services, and financial policies. CMC further enhances accessibility by integrating a Spanish language toggle, allowing non-English-speaking families to better support their students. By streamlining content and ensuring uniformity across campuses, CMC has significantly improved student preparedness while reducing administrative burdens. As a result, dual enrollment learners now enter their courses with a clearer understanding of college requirements, leading to greater success and retention in the program.
