Maureen Martin

Full Bio


Maureen Martin grew up in Columbia, MD. She attended Howard Community College after a college soccer injury, in her Junior year, which forced her to return home. She worked as an HCC lifeguard and received her Early Childhood Education Certification from HCC. Then, transferred to Towson University where she completed a BS in Psychology and Special Education. After graduating, she worked for Carroll County Public Schools for 15 years as both a Special Education Teacher and General Education Teacher. While working full-time as a teacher, she completed a MA in Instructional Systems Development-Training Systems, Instructional Design from the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC). As an Instructional Designer and consultant for the past 11 years, she has worked for corporate, nonprofit, K-12, and higher education organizations including: Pearson Online and Blended Learning, The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, UMBC, BDC HealthIT, and the Pennsylvania Department of Aging. She is adept in business process improvement, training, and development. Maureen is an accomplished eLearning developer with expertise in applying game design techniques and mechanics to motivate and engage online learners. Maureen, her husband, and two sons reside in the Baltimore/Washington area.
