Benjamin Barboza has worked with students in academic settings for over 15 years in high schools, middle schools, university, and community college settings. He is currently a full-time counselor/Instructor at Chabot College in Hayward, CA where he oversees their online orientation and first-semester planning sessions. At Chabot, he has worked with guided pathways and has been deeply involved with advocating for undocumented student needs on campus. He has taught classes at Chabot around study skills, creating success as a college student, and exploring careers and majors. He is interested in the spaces where education and technology collide, which is what makes coordinating these projects so fun for me. His most exciting project right now is revamping the online orientation to center around students' well-being in relation to Maslow's hierarchy of needs.
