Mainly in response to the pandemic and anticipated or realized budget challenges, many universities have eliminated sports. The eliminated sports are often called "non-revenue" sports. These sports often also enhance gender, ethnic, and international diversity and attract students who are successful on campus. Eliminating such sports may decrease the Athletics budget but is likely to harm universities' net revenue. The presenter encourages colleagues to advocate for retaining these non-headcount sports as positive student programs that cost little and generate funds.

Dr. Chuck Staben served as President of the University of Idaho from 2014-June 2019. Under his leadership, the state of Idaho instituted a novel Direct Admission process to facilitate college-going and increased need-based financial aid for all Idaho students by 50%. During his tenure, the University achieved new highs in student retention and graduation, a 25% increase in extramural research funding, and record fundraising. Dr. Staben’s innovation was recognized by membership on the American Council on Competitiveness. Dr. Staben is currently a professor of biological sciences at the University of Idaho, and recently published an opinion piece on coronavirus readiness in Inside Higher Education.
Prior to serving as President at the University of Idaho, Dr. Staben was Provost at the University of South Dakota (2008-2014) and served the University of Kentucky from 1989-2008 as a professor of biology, chair of the biology department, associate vice president for research, and acting vice president for research. He has held over $10 million in grants from the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation, and other agencies as well as a Course and Curriculum Development grant from NSF in bioinformatics.Dr. Staben received his BS in Biochemistry at the University of Illinois, a PhD in Biochemistry at the University of California-Berkeley, and had postdoctoral fellowships at Chiron Corporation (a successful biotechnology startup) and at Stanford University.
Dr. Staben may be best known in Athletics for the unique repositioning of the University of Idaho football team from FBS to FCS affiliation, which many have interpreted as a lack of support for Athletics…in fact, Dr. Staben has strongly supported Athletics as having a critical role at universities, but that Athletics programs must be appropriately positioned and funded to maximize the benefit to the university.

What is the process for attending a live event?
The process is as follows:

- The presentation materials will be available before the live event. Please check the link in the login information email.
- On the day of the live event, participants can log in 30 minutes prior to the start time. Once logged in, participants can see the PowerPoint slides, ask questions, and make comments via the chat feature.
- We email participants a link to the recording the Monday following the live event.
Is there a recording available? And how long is the recording good for?
Approximately one week after the conclusion of the live webinar, participants will receive a link to the recording which can be forwarded to all faculty and staff for viewing anytime, anywhere. The recording is a campus access license and is available for one year from the date of the live event.

After you purchase Go2K, we create a college site and send your specific Go2K url which you can distribute to everyone at the institution. College personnel then simply create a user login to access their personal dashboard. From the dashboard, they can search for specific training topics, register for upcoming live webinars, and view/print certificates of completion.
How do staff members access the on-demand training videos?
All on-demand training is available in a user’s personal dashboard. You can search for specific titles or use the catalog feature to find topics.

Funding is a little tight, how many workshops can I get for $XX?
You can buy the entire StudentLingo package (50 workshops) or we offer several a la carte options. Unlike a lot of other software companies, we don’t charge per user, so we can work with any budget. Is there an admin view?
This is a feature of our platform, but comes at an additional cost. With the admin view, you get access to more advanced reporting, and you have it in real time. With the standard membership, you get monthly reports.
