Violence Goes to College: Detecting and Preventing Avenger Violence

Overview

Is your institution’s diversity recruitment strategy more about numbers or establishing better relations?  Establishing better relationships with key community groups and hiring diverse faculty members can help you achieve your recruitment and retention goals.  This program will look at successful recruitment strategies and give insight into overcoming a number of challenges institutions are confronted with when trying to diversify their campus.

Questions that will be addressed during the presentation:

  • How do you keep diversity at the forefront of your recruitment strategies?
  • What is needed to develop institutional change that will foster diversity recruitment and retention?
  • How does one overcome internal and external challenges that hinder the implementation of new strategies?
  • What roles should admissions and personnel play?
  • Who should be involved in establishing strategies for student success?
  • Do mentoring programs work?
  • What other tools can be used to retain students?
