Gina Bata, Restorative Justice Program Coordinator at the University of Colorado at Boulder (CU), will discuss the restorative justice program at CU, from its inception to its current form which handles over 450+ cases per year. She will discuss both the on campus and off campus referral system and plans for future growth. Participants will learn how to start a restorative justice program, how to work with diverse community groups, and solutions to some of the challenges that they faced on campus and off campus. Ms. Bata will also provide examples/models of how restorative justice can be implemented on your college campus.

Who is the speaker?
Gina Bata has served as the coordinator for the restorative justice program at the University of Colorado at Boulder since October of 2005. She implemented student mediation services at CU-Boulder in august of 2007 and now serves as the coordinator of that program as well. She is trained in various restorative justice and mediation models. Ms. Bata is also a member of the Boulder Family Mediation Alliance, which provides family mediation services for low income individuals based on a sliding scale fee schedule. She graduated from Harvard University in 2001 with a B.A. in government and obtained her law degree from the University of Colorado law school in 2006. She is a currently a member of the Colorado Bar Association and the Colorado Coalition of Restorative Justice Directors.
