Debbie O'Halloran has worked in the field of education for the past 20 years. Her career began in the secondary system and she has spent the last 4 years working in post secondary education. Debbie was a classroom teacher for 10 years and then moved into the area of counselling. Currently, she is the Chairperson of Counselling & Career Services at Keyano College. She also coordinates effective counselling and career supports, and works closely with her colleagues at the college. In her opinion, the key to success is connecting students to the appropriate resources and people who can assist them in discovering their potential.
Cathy Davis-Herbert B.Sc., B.Ed., M.Ed. Doctoral Candidate
Cathy Davis-Herbert has worked in adult education for the past 20 years as an instructor (upgrading and university studies), instructional mentor, curriculum designer, chairperson and dean. Her division handles the largest diversity of programming over the largest geographic area in the College, including all of the College’s testing and academic tutorial services. Cathy believes that partnership is the only way to meet the challenges of student diversity and globalization, serve the long-term socioeconomic development needs of our communities, and address complex institutional needs in times of limited resources. In her opinion, the resources and knowledge available through partnership are truly phenomenal, but collaborating well is an art. The leadership expertise needed to ensure success increases dramatically when projects involve multiple internal and external collaborators. Through the Learner Assistance Program project, Cathy deepened her personal and institutional knowledge in multi-layered partnership. The insights she learned in the trenches are very practical, as they are the tools needed to construct more successful and satisfying future partnerships.
