Overview
Not all drop-outs are created equally. Too often we design a “one-size-fits-all” retention strategy and fail to understand the realities of individual student lives. Retention and enrollment strategies can be more successful when we carefully look at the different needs and concerns among key student sub-populations, rather than the student body as a whole. Join us and learn how to improve your recruitment and retention efforts by creating specific retention strategies that respond to the needs of multiple student bodies.

Who is the speaker?
Dr. Bradley A. Winn has served as Assistant Commissioner of Academic Affairs for the Utah System of Higher Education (USHE), Chair of the Council for Senior Student Affairs Officers (USHE), Vice President for Student Services and Institutional Strategy at Utah Valley State College, and Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Snow College.
He received his doctorate, masters, and bachelors degrees from the University of Michigan, Brigham Young University, and Purdue University, respectively. Dr. Winn has published and taught in the fields of change management, organizational quality, leadership, and higher education. His research agenda has focused on how organizations can excel in productivity while at the same time creating humane and enriching work environments.
*Leadership in higher education is more than teaching. It includes creating an intentional student development environment where students feel that someone is concerned about them as a growing individual. When a student is ready to throw in the towel, is there anyone around who cares?*
In addition to his work in higher education, Dr. Winn serves his community as an elected representative in Utah*s part-time legislature. He and his wife Johanna are raising their family in a small college town in rural Utah. They are the proud parents of five wonderful and energetic children ages five to fifteen. They enjoy family time, gardening, camping, traveling, and riding their horses.
