Overview
The speaker will discuss current research into occupational injuries in nursing and present her own related graduate research. Nurse Aides are the 3rd highest group at risk for occupational workplace injuries and nurses are 5th. This occupational hazard combined with the increasing obesity rates in the US make training and interventions critical to protecting these frontline workers. Strategies for injury prevention and staff education will be discussed.

Who is the speaker?
Patricia Graham MSN RN CNE, has over 18 years of experience in nursing and education.  She started her career as a house keeper in a nursing home and progressed to CNA, LPN, RN, BSN, MSN and, most recently, she has been certified as a Nurse Educator. She has held various nursing and educational positions including Staff Development, Restorative Nursing and Assistant Director of Nursing.  Patricia has been directing the Nurse Aide program at Front Range Community College for over 9 years and works as adjunct faculty at Regis University in the BSN Program. Patricia’s graduate research into back injuries in nursing led her to start the company Occupational Training Solutions (OTS) with her sister. At OTS, she is responsible for product development and outreach.

What is a webinar?

    An Internet connection, computer speakers and LCD projector are required if a large group is viewing the presentation. Participants can call-in via phone for the audio if they are having troubles with the audio over the computer.
