Alexandra Duran, M.A. - Program Director Career & College Connections, Silicon Valley Community Collaborative Foothill College
For more than 12 years Alexandra Duran has been assisting students and their families in the transition to college, as well as in the exploration of individual skills, interests, values, and personality traits as they relate to career choices. Currently she directs the Career & College Connections Office at Foothill College-Middlefield Campus in Palo Alto, California. She also leads the Silicon Valley Community Collaborative (SVCC), whose main objective is to bring together multiple educational and community partners and initiatives in Santa Clara County to improve coordination of services and develop a seamless system for educational opportunities and workforce training. Alexandra holds a bachelors degree in Communications and a masters in Management and Organizational Leadership. As a first-generation college student, a Latino, and an economically disadvantaged student, Alexandra has experienced firsthand many of the challenges as well as the opportunities that these populations face.

Laurie L. Hazard holds an Ed.M. in Counseling and an Ed.D. in Curriculum and Teaching from Boston University. Laurie's experience with academic support began as a graduate student at Boston University and later as a reading and writing specialist in an innovative, team structured learning assistance program at Boston University. For two years, Laurie served as the Director of Academic Support Services at Becker College, a department which housed advising services for at-risk students, learning assistance programs, and tutoring services.

Laurie, an award winning educator, was recently selected by the National Resource Center for The First-Year Experience and Students in Transition as a top ten Outstanding First-Year Student Advocate. In 2006, she also received the Learning Assistance Association of New England’s Outstanding Research and Publication Award.

Cori Shaff, M.Ed holds her master’s degree in career counseling from Colorado State University. She currently works at the University of Colorado-Boulder where she provides one-on-one career counseling for undergraduate students, supervises peer career advisors, and coordinates the office’s outreach efforts to faculty, staff, and students. She regularly presents to undergraduate classes on a variety of career related topics and facilitates strength based workshops to student leaders across campus.

Dr. Sally Riconscente, CRC, LRC, is an Assistant Director of the Academic Center for Excellence at Bryant University where she serves students individually and in workshop settings to enhance their academic success. She also designs curriculum and teaches first-year experience courses that integrate metacognitive skill development and social adjustment to the university.

An experienced educational consultant and adjunct faculty member, she teaches a variety of courses for the Department of Applied Psychology at Bryant University and the Department of Psychology at Bristol Community College. Bitsy Cohn holds a bachelor's degree in English with minors in Linquistics and Theatre Arts. She is very proud of the fact that her less than exemplary undergraduate experience taught her how to make every mistake a college student can make while still managing to graduate, find a passion and pursue a successful career. Over the course of a twenty year career in Community College teaching, tutoring and administration, she has become an expert in post-secondary disability services, faculty training and development, adapting curricum for Universal Design, Adult Basic Skills instruction, at-risk retention strategies and at teaching all of the various tips, tricks, tools and magic spells students need for academic success. She is currently the Director of Learning Opportunity Center Services at Front Range Community College in Fort Collins, CO and is also an Adjunct Faculty member in the Developmental Studies Department.
