“Communicate early and often, staying consistent, clear, correct and compassionate.”
Branka Kristic joined Hofstra University in January 2007 as the inaugural director of the Parent and Family Programs. Before coming to Hofstra, Branka was the Assistant Director of Academic Affairs and Special Programs at Columbia University. Her work with students, parents, and families has convinced her that parents can be essential partners to college administrators in supporting student academic and personal success. Branka holds a Master of Arts in Education from Columbia University, Teachers College, and a Bachelor of Arts from Queens College. Four of her children are in college or have recently finished it, offering her first-hand opportunities to experience and deal with many frustrations and joys of being a college parent.
Some of the best resources for developing programs and communications for parents are the relationships you build with faculty and staff across your campus.”
Donna Krivoski began working part-time with parents at Lafayette College in 1990 and was assigned the task of developing a full parent services program. Now, as Director of Parent Relations, she oversees a variety of parent publications, committees, and programs. Donna has a Bachelor of Science degree from Shippensburg University. Her experiences in teaching, guiding her children through college and working with students, parents, faculty, and administrators in the college setting for over 20 years has given her insight to some of the most effective ways to communicate with parents, collaborate with other campus departments and develop partnerships with both.
Donna Krivoski and Branka Kristic have presented at the AHEPPP (Association of Higher Education Parent/Family Programs Professionals) Conferences in 2010 & 2011.
