Overview:
Ideally, a tutor should know everything there is to know about their given subject matter or coursework. Realistically, this goal requires extensive training and support. When time and resources are limited, how do you take information that is overwhelming in breadth and scope, and boil it down into a memorable and engaging jump start training session?

This webinar will introduce “The Tutor Juggle,” an effective tutor-training model that focuses on four critical objectives in just one hour. Attendees of this webinar will learn how to take tutors through “The Tutor Juggle” of objectives, theoretical frameworks, methodology for implementation, and the overarching theme of self-efficacy.

Participants will also have the opportunity to share action plans for improving their own jump start sessions.

  • Learn about tutoring domains: interpersonal communication, motivation, interactive learning and learning strategies
  • Cover research that supports the use of tutoring domains
  • Discuss strategies for integrating domains into tutoring sessions of all kinds, such as supplemental instruction (SI) groups, walk-in tables, online or weekly appointments
  • Get presentation tips for delivering a tutoring session
