Katharina Matic is an experienced higher administration leader. She connects her personal values of integrity, well-being and care for self and others, transformative and energetic leadership, organizational effectiveness and efficiency to her work with diverse professionals and institutions.
Kat co-founded InCheck, the organization for Innovative, Creative Higher Education Consulting, with the vision to create one place where all student conduct practitioners would turn to for a standard professional development that includes an ethical commitment, resources, assessment and certification.
She currently serves as the Director of Student Rights and Responsibilities at Elizabethtown College in Pennsylvania. Kat received her M.A. in Organization and Leadership in Higher and Postsecondary Education at Columbia University, where she also worked as a Graduate Assistant at the Office of Judicial Affairs/Community Standards.
Believing in the need to organize work, connecting it to personal values and creating new and innovative concepts and practices, Kat is merging her work, passion and ideas into Incheck.org where she hopes to provide you with all of the knowledge and skills she has learned in her many years of practice. Her interests and experiences include innovation and entrepreneurism; connecting mission and principles to policy development and implementation; transformative, positive, energetic, and ethical leadership; effectiveness and efficiency of organizations; teaching and learning/professional-development/training; and assessment practices, interpretation and dissemination of information. Keanan Barbour-March has a diverse work history spread throughout education and consulting. His experiences include directing Student Activities and Multicultural departments in higher education, developing and directing leadership trainings and orientations for new students, consulting and researching for educational and nonprofit organizations, and leading international outdoor experiential-education expeditions. His passion is with college student development and fostering intellectual growth during the transition into and through tertiary education.
Based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Keanan works as a contract-based consultant and researcher specializing in organizational best practices, as well as program design and effectiveness evaluation, budgeting, and member recruiting and retention. Clients include higher education institutions, community and human resources offices, nonprofit programs, and national and international education research foundations. He has also worked with top research councils and foundations, including the Social Science Research Council and Startl.org, as well as nonprofit and federally funded human service organizations (such as the Union-Snyder Community Action Agency, and CORE Susquehanna AmeriCorps).
Currently, he serves as Program Manager for Accreditation and Policy Compliance at the University of Pennsylvania.
Keanan earned a M.S.Ed from the University of Pennsylvania focusing in Student Development, higher education administration, and policy research. His undergraduate work in Sociology, Religious & Political Ethics, and in Peace and Conflict Studies fostered his interest in student conduct and departmental research. Together with Kat Matic, they formed InCheck.org to provide educational best practices, consulting services, and trainings for colleges, universities, and student conduct departments.
