Overview:
Online higher education enrollments are projected to reach 25 million by 2015 while classes exclusively on physical campuses are excepted to plummet from 14.4 million in 2010 to just 4.1 million five years later (Ambient Insight, 2011). This unprecedented growth and shift in instructional delivery from on-campus to online will require effective communication to support student success and retention within and outside of the online classroom. This webinar builds upon human communication research and provides strategies to optimize technology as a tool to augment and personalize communication in an online environment to engage and retain students. Learn how to integrate high-touch communication into faculty and advisor training. Develop best practices for setting expectations for faculty and students as well as strategies for developing a communication infrastructure that begins with point of first contact with students to matriculation through graduation. Data will be shared highlighting the importance of effective and personalized communication for online students.
