Participants will also understand how systemic and yet creative focused reform can support an affordable and accessible education, while improving the quality of educational offerings and student services.
Overview:
Community Colleges throughout the United States and their global counterparts around the world are struggling to develop and institute effective financial models. This webinar will focus on discussions found in a new book, Increasing Effectiveness of the Community College Financial Model: A Global Perspective for the Global Economy. The book brings together voices from contemporary academics and practitioners who focus on the issue of the community college financial model. There are very few comprehensive books on community college financial management. Of those books, few were authored prior to the era of global connectivity that defines our current decade. There is a need to identify these complex patterns for community colleges, which while they share characteristics with universities, remain unique in their mission, focus and structure.

This webinar will provide a guide for practitioners and fills a void in contemporary literature by offering a step-by-step process to overhaul an institution’s financial model at no sacrifice to quality of education. Specific case studies will provide concrete examples of how national and world community college leaders are reconciling expectations in an environment of constrained funding, often, without a material change to the college's base line financial model.

A foundational understanding will identify four guiding principles for an improved financial model: (a) the need for broad financial literacy and application of sound financial management practices; (b) the need for adherence to the community college philosophy and mission; (c) the need for transformational leadership to guide systemic change of an improved financial model and make adaptable, innovative and transparent decisions; and (d) comprehending the implications of global connectivity. This webinar will encourage creative and innovative thinking along with skill building for our current and future community college educational leaders.
