Students who most need your help are not going to seek out your help. You are not fun. You are not “hip.” Asking for help makes them feel dumb. Getting tutoring and going to the learning center reminds them of those kids who were assigned to the bluebird reading group. Everyone knew they were the kids who were “not as smart as the others.” No one wants to be in that group.

The biggest enemy against increased attendance is pride.
