The relevant educational challenges of the day - retention, engagement and transition – coupled with the changing workplace needs have placed career technical education (CTE) at the heart of many policy debates.  This webinar will share why many stakeholder groups are making CTE as a priority, what are the relevant federal policy discussions for CTE educators to be aware of and some thoughts for CTE to consider as we look ahead at the next version of federal legislation supporting CTE.

    Kimberly A. Green, Executive Director
    National Association of State Directors of Career Technical Education Consortium

    Over the past seventeen years Kimberly Green has worked extensively on federal policy impacting career technical education. Working closely with Congress, the Administration and a broad range of stakeholders, she represents the interests of and seeks support for career technical education. In addition to this policy work, Kimberly has helped establish and implement the States’ Career Clusters Initiative. This Initiative is designed to ensure that career technical education meets the needs of nation, its economy, employers and students. Efforts include working with states to ensure their career technical education systems align with rigorous academic and technical standards, thus preparing students of all ages for success in the workforce of today and tomorrow. Currently, Kimberly is working with several organizations on a project focused on technical skills assessments and is also a partner with the National Governors Association’s policy academy on CTE.

    Kimberly represents the state directors on a variety of boards and committees including the Project Lead the Way Advisory Board, Cisco Networking Academy Advisory Board, NCES Technical Review Panel on Career and Technical Education, and the Board of Directors of the National Career Academy Coalition.  In addition, Kimberly and NASDCTEc serve as technical assistance partners of the National Research Center for CTE, which is currently focused on helping states develop green programs of study.  With the support of Pell Grants, she is a graduate of Cornell University’s School of Industrial and Labor Relations.  A native of Buffalo, New York, Kimberly and her husband now reside in Rockville, Maryland.


    What is a webinar?
    A webinar is an interactive seminar conducted over the web and is typically 1.5 to 2 hours long. 
    • What is the process?  Webinar participants log into the webinar site with a username and password sent via email.  Participants can print handouts, as we send you a link to the presentation via email approximately 2 days prior to the event. Once logged in, you are able to see the PowerPoint slides, ask questions and make comments via chat, very similar to instant messaging.   
    • Is there a recording available?  Approximately one week after the conclusion of the webinar, you will receive a link to the recording which is yours indefinitely and can be forwarded to all faculty and staff at your institution for viewing anytime, anywhere
    • What equipment is required? An Internet connection, computer speakers and LCD projector if a large group is present.  .
