Overview:
Many evaluation efforts related to tutoring programs focus on the expected end results, such as better learning, higher grades, and improved retention. But before those results can be gained, the tutors need to be trained. The landmark Kellogg study by the National Center for Developmental Education clearly established the positive impact that tutor training had on student grades in and completion of developmental coursework, and the long-established tutor training certification by the College Reading & Learning Association includes tutor selection criteria, key training topics, and tutor evaluation processes. This webinar will focus on direct evaluation of tutor training, not the evaluation of a tutoring program overall. A variety of training topics and related tutor evaluation processes will be reviewed.
