Overview:
With the Obama Administration’s passage of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) initiative, the United States has begun to pave the way for many undocumented students to pursue college without the threat of deportation. Many universities are now seeing an influx of applications among this special population. What do you need to know about policies, on both the local and national level, in order to best serve and welcome students from this growing population? Based on nearly 10 years of research and practice with undocumented high school, college, and graduate students and on-going investigation and training around relevant policies and practices, this webinar will help you understand how recent policy changes affect college access both in your state and on your campus. We will also discuss the unique needs of undocumented students and how best to help them through the application and admission process, in accordance with current policy.

As the national climate around how to treat undocumented immigrants continues to shift, it is critical that higher education professionals are informed about how state and national policies impact students in their state and on their campus. Participants in this webinar will be provided with up-to-date information about the policies that impact students in their area making them better able to provide information, support, and guidance as these students pursue college and post-graduate aspirations.
