Description Speaker(s)

Overview:
As college students are faced with higher and higher tuition rates because of the current financial climate, Challenge Exams offer a cost-effective alternative for earning traditional college credit. Challenge Exams permit students to meet requirements, earn credit, and receive advanced placement by taking an examination instead of a full course. By helping students complete their degrees in a more affordable manner, Challenge Exams have the potential to increase retention and persistence. So, why aren’t we using them more?

Thousands of students across the nation can take advantage of Challenge Exams, yet too few are given the information they need in a timely manner to help them save money and graduate on time. This webinar will focus on the many options available to institutions and their students. Participants will learn about CLEP, DSST, Excelsior, AP, IB, and more. Participants will learn how to effectively communicate with students about their options. We will also discuss policy development and implementation. Who is responsible for setting policy? How often are policies evaluated? How do students process Credit for Prior Learning transcripts? We will begin this discussion and provide participants with an opportunity to network with others across the nation and take home ideas for best practices.
