| Innovative Class Scheduling Opportunities: Meeting the Demands of Your Students
Wednesday, June 4th - 1:00-3:00 EDT
Trends in academic finance, technology, student behavior, and higher education policy are all suggesting a very different future for how we engage students with learning. Educational leadership will need to innovate to reconcile thinly stretched budgets and the growing student demand for variety. This session will describe a confluence of policy and practice that open the door to a cost-effective, yet thoroughly rich and diverse course schedules.
Objectives
During this session, participants will:
-
Engage with emerging education policy, and reflect on the appeal for innovation in course delivery
-
Add breadth to their understanding of contemporary student preferences and expectations
-
Immerse into discussions of the long tail and crowdsourcing, and understand what these private-sector precedents suggest as opportunities for academic institutions
-
Recognize the potential in innovative scheduling to redress the declining purchasing power of government funding
-
Learn about what some institutions of higher education are already doing to respond via innovative scheduling
-
Discover potential resources to pursue in support of bringing innovation to campuses across the country
